Answer

What is a double chance bet?

Answered with numbers you can check — including ours.

A double chance bet covers two of the three possible results in one selection: home or draw, away or draw, or home or away. You win if either of your two outcomes happens, so roughly two-thirds of the outcome space is covered instead of one-third.

The trade-off is the price. Because the chance of winning is much higher, the odds are much shorter - frequently in the 1.20 to 1.45 range for a favourite covering the draw. At odds of 1.25 you need to win 80% of the time simply to break even, so the margin for error is thin.

It is most useful where a side is clearly stronger but the match has draw-friendly characteristics: derbies, low-scoring leagues, a team protecting a first-leg lead, or a heavily rotated line-up in a cup tie.

It is least useful as a general safety blanket. Taking short prices repeatedly to feel safer converts a betting strategy into a slow leak, because a single loss now costs several wins to recover.
