Break-even strike rate is 1 divided by the decimal odds. At odds of 2.00 you need to win 50% of the time just to stand still. At 1.50 you need 66.7%. At 4.00 you only need 25%. This is why a strike rate quoted without the average odds beside it is meaningless.
It is the single most common way tipster marketing misleads. A service advertising an 80% strike rate at average odds of 1.20 needs 83.3% to break even, so it is losing money while sounding excellent. A service hitting 30% at average odds 4.50 is comfortably profitable while sounding terrible.
For a concrete comparison: MalluSports currently runs at a 59.1% strike rate with average odds of 1.96, which puts the break-even line at roughly 51.0%. The gap between those two numbers, not the strike rate itself, is what produces the 10.5% ROI - and the sample is still only 93 picks, which is small enough that the figure will move.
Ask any service for three numbers together: strike rate, average odds, and number of settled picks. If all three are not published, the first one on its own is not evidence.
