Due for a win, hot streaks, home banker accumulators and the rest, each examined properly.
'They are due a win' is the gambler's fallacy and it is the most expensive sentence in betting. Independent events have no memory. A team that has lost five in a row is not more likely to win the sixth for that reason, and a coin that landed heads five times is still 50/50.
'Hot streaks' invert the same error. A run of wins is mostly variance, and treating it as evidence of a system leads directly to raised stakes at the worst moment. Both fallacies come from the same place: pattern-seeking applied to genuinely random sequences.
The others include 'accumulators of home bankers are safe', which multiplies margin four ways; 'the bookmaker knows something', which mistakes liability balancing for information; and 'I only bet what I can afford', which is only true if you decided the amount before you started rather than after.
