Accumulator Calculator: Seeing What an Acca Really Costs

How to read combined odds against true probability, and the number that changes most people's mind.

An accumulator calculator multiplies your selections into a combined price and a total return. That much every bookmaker shows you. The number they do not put next to it is the implied probability that every leg lands.

That is the number worth looking at. Four selections at 1.80 combine to a price above 10.00, which looks generous, and land together roughly nine percent of the time. Seeing 'about 1 in 11' next to the return changes how the bet feels, which is precisely why it is not displayed on the coupon.

Use it to compare an accumulator against the same stake spread across singles. In most cases the singles are better, and the calculator makes the comparison concrete instead of theoretical.

Key points

Frequently asked

Why show the probability as well as the odds?
Because the odds look generous and the probability usually does not. Both describe the same bet.
How many legs is too many?
Every leg multiplies the margin against you. Beyond three or four, the effective margin is severe.
Are singles always better?
Not always, but usually, unless every leg independently carries genuine value.
